I have a business background at a senior level and was drawn to study Psychotherapy by my observations of the difficulties people experienced in the workplace,  for example in coping with change and learning to manage stress.

In 2004, I qualified with MA (Distinction) in  Humanistic Person-centred Psychotherapy.  I developed a private clinical practice and now work online from my therapy room near Bingham (NG13).

I am also trained in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, and additionally have become an Accredited Practitioner of EMDR. (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), a helpful, NICE endorsed treatment for trauma.

Therapy can be short term (6-8 sessions) or longer term, based on clients’ individual needs.

My priority is to establish a therapeutic alliance and I work at relational depth; I integrate a range of theories eg from the psychodynamic and TA traditions when appropriate, and I incorporate strategies from all areas of my training, led by the client, and collaboratively.

At the heart of my work, is the compassion, non-judgemental empathy and genuine-ness which I seek to offer and trust my clients will experience; for me these are fundamental to self-discovery and self-awareness, which can lead to self-acceptance and self-compassion, combating shame and distress. From this, clients may learn to make and trust their own assessment of the (personal) right way forward, gain the courage to make different choices, and bring about positive change in their lives.
