About Me

After a successful business career in senior management, I decided on a new path. In 2004, I qualified as a Psychotherapist and Supervisor, registered with UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) through the Sherwood Institute,Nottingham ( Post-Graduate Diploma and MA with Distinction in Humanistic Person-centred Psychotherapy, and Diploma in Supervision).

I am also accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and practice according to the ethics of both this professional organisation and UKCP. This means, for example, that my work is appropriately supervised.

I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Cognitive-Behavioural Psychotherapy and have a special interest in Compassion Focused Therapy. I combine this training with my Humanistic Person-centred approach,

After some years of integrating EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) into my clinical practice, I have now become an Accredited Practitioner. This enhances my work with clients who have undergone trauma of different kinds, eg life threatening experiences and other painful events such as sexual abuse or violence which have left an apparently indelible memory linked to a negative belief about oneself today.

My business background originally inspired my special interest in coping with change and stress (more appropriately called distress) in the workplace,  I have since developed considerable experience of working with distress arising from common human problems of different kinds. Clients may be having difficulty in relationships, struggling to cope with loss or a change in personal circumstances, or manage acute anxiety or depression.

I firmly believe that we can all change, given the right support at the right time, and move on to live more fulfilling lives.
